Tasteless or Satire...or just plain funny!

Yesterday, as I was checking my normal CNN, Yahoo, and MSN headlines, I came across The New Yorker's cover picture of Obama & his wife. You can make your own judgements; but I think it is rather comical. Ok, well I could do w/o the turbin; but the rest of the pic, hilarious! (Mind you, I am fully aware that I may be alone on this boat.)

I think what keeps it from being funny to me is that there are a ton of people who will use this as a reason not to vote for him, rather than looking at his actual politics and then making the decision. There are a place for political cartoons, but it's not on the cover of a magazine. I can't wait for the election to be over!

i will say; i agree with you robin! however, for myself - being aware of his politics and certain that i disagree with 99% of them (again, i understand i may be alone in that belief) - think that it depicts some very real & personal beliefs (and past actions) that the Obamas cannot separate themselves from...or explain away.

I also really wonder how many folks this will actually sway...i think more people will vote for Obama b/c Oprah, Ben Affleck, Sarah Jessica Parker, or P.Diddy say so...not b/c they believed in a comic OR knew the candidates' politics. In my opinion, anyone who votes, believes, or is swayed by someone else's opinion (suggestion, or cartoon) - w/o knowing their own convictions and beliefs - well, they are just wasting space.
